Tomorrow starts a long Holiday Stetch of SNOWPLAY fun for us. We are kicking it off with a there day weekend, followed by Ski Week (February 20-23), and then another solid weekend on the slopes. Although we have had a disappointing winter this year, the dramatically colder temperatures this week (and next) has allowed us to fire up the snow making, and has set us up for a couple good weeks of snow play! For those of you who are joining us, a few reminders:
WEATHER – Currently we are experiencing cold, but sunny days, but that is likely to change to start next week, with even colder temperatures and some natural snow fall. Please plan accordingly, and consult your favorite weather app before starting your trip. It is going to be cold; but the lodge will be warm!
ROADS – Currently there are no chain controls in place for the region, but again, that is likely to change as we see some weak, but very cold, storms come through by the end of the weekend. We are not expecting a lot of snow fall, but enough for me to remind you to check with Cal Trans at http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi for the latest in chain controls before starting your trip. We DO NOT provide updates on the roads; check with Cal Trans, please.
SNOW CONDITIONS – There is very little snow anywhere outside of our Snow Park right now. We have snow because we are working HARD to produce snow. If you are planning a trip up here to play in the snow, but don’t plan to visit us, rethink you plans. The snow we have made this week is great for tubing and sledding, and all our hills and lifts will be open. But, we don’t have enough snow for all of the snowmen, snowball fight, general snowplay areas… yet… and man-made snow isn’t great for those things anyway. Please plan accordingly.
Again, we are thrilled to be open again. Our mountain communities have taken quite the hit this winter due to the drought, but we are working hard, and hope you will lend a hand in supporting our business, as well as our local hotels, cabins, restaurants, and shops. Will we do everything we can to give you a great day in the snow; all we need is your smiling faces to make the week complete! Hope to see you soon!!!
